UFOCs/FDDs
The various UFOCs are broken into various primary and sub-industry categories. If you click on the primary industry grouping (say Automotive), you will be able to review all of the 210 franchisors representing that category. If, however, you select the sub-industry category (say Transmission Repair), you will be able to review only the 14 franchisors in the sub-industry group.Once you are in the industry group you prefer, the various franchisor listings indicate the most recent year for which a UFOC is available. There are a number of reasons why a current year’s UFOC might be unavailable. These include: 1) the Company no longer franchises at all; 2) the Company still franchises, but is not actively seeking new franchisees; 3) a Company usually submits its UFOC the same time each year (roughly 70% submit in March/April). It may be that, if the most recent UFOC is dated say November, 2007 and the update is not due until November, 2008. In this case, you should tell us and we will notify you when it does become available; 4) in some cases, we do not have access to the most current UFOC.
To the extent that you cannot find the franchisor you are interested in, you can purchase either the entire UFOC or specific parts of the UFOC.
A Special Note About Item 19: Earnings Claims
Because publication of an earnings claims statement is at the sole discretion of franchisors, only about 15-20% provide this information. In the vast majority of cases, a franchisor will simply leave Item 19 blank. Please access our list of companies for which we have Item 19s: Earnings Claims or choose from our pre-selected earnings claims packages. Select from the menu to the left. To ensure that the desired Item 19 is available, please go to the Subject Headings Earnings Claims – Individual or Earnings Claims – Packages. These sections specifically identify those companies for which Item 19s are available.
